Common Service centers are Panchayat IT Kiosks delivering e governance , Banking, Aadhar, Direct Benefit Transfers and various portal services such as Pan Card, Passports, National Pension scheme (NPS) and other plethora of business services, education, health, livelihoods, legal and welfare services.

Common Service Centers(CSC's) were established in public private partnership mode (PPP) in the state of Jharkhand in the year 2007 as part of the larger plan of National E governance Plan (NeGP) for setting up 1 lakh CSC’s in 1 Lakh panchayats all over India

Common service Centers (CSC’s) are called Pragya Kendras in Jharkhand is a panchayat level rural digital hub of Government set up to serve for a cluster of 5-6 villages, through a locally trained person from the local community. Each CSC has all the necessary IT infrastructure and connectivity which acts as Panchayat digital access point for the rural community to connect with Government, business and outside world.

AID is the only NGO partner to take up this challenge amongst all the corporates that too in the most backward naxal affected districts of Palamu, Garwah and Latehar in the state of Jharkhand. Already having worked in the zone for more than 2 decades in the fields of education, health, livelihood, watershed management, this opportunity was taken as the best chance to usher in transparency, accountability and good governance in the region through IT revolution.
